SHANGHAI – Buick has announced the introduction in China of the 2022 GL8 Avenir, which features standard 48V mild hybrid technology and additional premium appointments for improved driving efficiency and riding comfort.

With enhanced styling and technology, the 2022 GL8 Avenir not only provides better fuel efficiency but also a more luxurious and intelligent in-vehicle experience, giving it additional strength for continued momentum.”
The mild hybrid system in the updated GL8 Avenir consists of a 48V motor, 48V power battery, power management module and hybrid control unit, enabling leading electric functionality such as braking energy regeneration, E-idling, E-boost and smart charging.
Together with GM’s 2.0L variable-cylinder turbocharged engine and the segment-only nine-speed automatic transmission, the new propulsion system provides quick acceleration along with smooth and quiet handling while improving its fuel efficiency by 6% over the previous standard propulsion system.
New to the 2022 GL8 Avenir is an available Bordeaux Red – Jade White interior color palette for six-seat and seven-seat variants. In addition, the unique Pearl White exterior color is being offered in a limited edition to further fulfill customers’ diverse needs.
The 2022 GL8 Avenir has additional comfort features and upgraded convenience technologies such as wider armrests and headrests with refined materials, extra USB charging ports and storage compartments, soundproof glass and reading lights for third-row passengers. The flagship four-seat variant is available with an exclusive dark blue color for its premium 13-mm pile carpet, which complements the Whisper Beige interior and Imperial Blue exterior for an enhanced feeling of elegance and refinement.
The 2022 GL8 Avenir also comes with Buick’s latest eConnect infotainment system featuring an all-new UI design. It has a new vehicle monitoring and air quality display, and connected navigation featuring a 3D display and customized route setting. More in-vehicle touchscreen apps such as Himalaya Kids have been integrated into the system for the pleasure of occupants of all ages.
Inheriting Buick’s safety DNA, the 2022 GL8 Avenir features up to 20 advanced intelligent driver-assist technologies and supports vehicle-to-everything (V2X) connectivity features.
The 2022 GL8 Avenir is priced between RMB 463,900 and RMB 533,900, with a selection of three exterior colors and three interior colors. The Bordeaux Red – Jade White interior color is available for an additional RMB 4,000 and V2X connectivity features are priced at RMB 10,000.
