Can travel up to 518 km on a single charge
SHANGHAI – Buick today introduced the new VELITE 6 EV featuring an increased range of 518 km on a single charge under China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC) conditions.
Available with a new dynamic design as well as the latest generation of Buick’s eConnect infotainment system, the three variants of the new energy vehicle (NEV) are priced between RMB 159,900 and RMB 178,900 after national subsidies.
“The VELITE 6 EV has built strong momentum thanks to its premium quality, reliability and connectivity features,” said Cesar Toledo, general director of Buick Sales and Marketing at SAIC-GM. “With its longer EV range and additional comfort and connected features, the upgraded model will meet customers’ rising demand for green mobility while strengthening Buick’s presence in NEVs in China.”
The new VELITE 6 EV is powered by a larger 61.1-kWh lithium-ion battery, which delivers higher energy density of 163 Wh/kg. It takes just 30 minutes to recharge the battery capacity from 30% to 80%.
Its new battery pack features an intelligent thermal management system that includes liquid cooling and warm-up to ensure the best working temperature for stable battery performance and charging efficiency in extreme cold conditions.
The new VELITE 6 EV is also equipped with the upgraded Buick eMotion electric propulsion system, which delivers a smooth and dynamic driving experience together with greater energy efficiency. The highly efficient permanent magnet drive motor is capable of producing up to 130 kW of motoring power. It enables the vehicle to sprint from 0-50 km/h in 3.1 seconds.
The electric power consumption of the new VELITE 6 EV is estimated to be as low as 12.6 kWh/100 km under CLTC conditions. In addition, the latest VELITE 6 EV is available with energy regeneration and has three driving modes – Normal, Sport and One-Pedal Driving – to meet customers’ diverse power and handling needs. It offers a flexible and convenient charging experience with the pre-set charging function.
The new VELITE 6 EV has adopted the latest generation of the Buick eConnect infotainment system, which runs through the standard 10-inch high-resolution touchscreen. Intuitive human-machine interaction includes advanced voice recognition from iFLYTEK to support voice interruption and multi-round interaction. Additional smart cabin features include super ID, wireless integration with Apple CarPlay, OnStar 4G connectivity and over-the-air (OTA) remote updates.
Outside, new wheel latches and sleek bodylines present a more powerful modern look. They are complemented by the arrival of the new Cyan exterior color for Buick NEVs.
New VELITE 6 EV buyers can enjoy special financing, including a 50% down payment with 24 installments at 0% interest. Customers can also receive a subsidy of RMB 6,000 for trading in their old model in addition to special services that include road assistance and door-to-door pick up.
The new VELITE 6 EV joins the VELITE 6 plug-in hybrid and VELITE 7 all-electric SUV in Buick’s NEV lineup in China.
