Axle/Cassette seals have been widely used in harsh environments, heavy-duty and off-road applications, such as trucks, trailers, commercial vehicles and agricultural machinery. The unitized design is just like a labyrinth with grease filled containing several dust lips and the main sealing lip is energized with a spring, leading to the effective prevention of the penetration of oil, liquid, dirt and mud.
The various dimensions and overall heights can be provided for different applications. Many more factors need to be taken into account when designing and manufacturing these seals and usually a combination of lip materials are used to achieve the most cost effective solution.
